Luigi Fabris
Luigi Fabris was born in Bassano, Italy, in 1883. His father ran a blacksmith shop but Luigi’s passion was art. He attended the Academy of Venice studying sculpture and was very successful in this field.
However, he also had a great passion for ceramics. In 1912 he began to create figurines, modeled and decorated with extreme fineness and precision; figurines that recreated, with grace and fantasy, the 17th century Venezian world. In 1918, following the end of World War 1, he moved to Milan where he opened a factory to produce ceramics. He became highly successful and soon his work was being exported worldwide. His factory was destroyed by bombs during World War 2, in 1942. In 1946 he returned to his home town of Bassano and opened a new factory there. He died in 1952. The delicacy of the lace on his figurines means that they are extremely difficult to find without any damage or restoration and are eagerly sought after by antique collectors, especially in Italy, France and the USA. We have a large selection of Royal Doulton figures for sale, many of which are now out of production. All of our Royal Doulton figures are offered at discount prices and are first quality. Figures, or figurines, by Royal Doulton fill a very special place in the minds of today’s collectors so please click here to view our selection. |
