Lorna Bailey, born 10 February 1978, is an English designer and manufacturer of collectable hand painted decorative earthenware ceramics. She has a B. Tec National Diploma in Ceramics obtained at Stoke-on-Trent College, the successor to the Burslem School of Art where Clarice Cliff, Susie Cooper and Charlotte Rhead studied. Lorna, by her designs and use of colour, is often referred to as the next Clarice Cliff so who knows? She joined her father’s business, LJB Ceramics, as a paintress and began designing a series of highly colourful cottage and trees and abstract patterns reminiscent of the Art Deco period. In 2003, LJB Ceramics changed its name to Lorna Bailey Artware. In December 1995, when Lorna was just 17 years of age, her ‘House and Path’ and ‘Sunburst’ designs became the first to be put into full production and she has gone on to produce a vast range of designs and shapes which have attracted a strong base of collectors. In the year 2000, came the Lorna Bailey cats which, at first, were only sold to members of the Lorna Bailey Collectors Club and were available for a limited period of, usually, a month. There were also limited edition cats restricted to 50 or 75 pieces only. Since then, many of the newer cats are now available around the world. All of our Lorna Bailey products are in perfect condition and carry the Lorna Bailey signature. |
