Moorcroft pottery was founded in 1897 as a studio within a large ceramic company, James Macintyre & Co. Moorcroft pottery soon had worldwide success with designs from William Moorcroft who personalised each piece of pottery produced with his own signature or initials. Later the business moved to a new factory in Sandbach Road where Moorcroft pottery is still made today.

Moorcroft won numerous medals and commendations, culminating in the appointment of the Moorcroft company as Potter to HM The Queen in 1928.

Today, Moorcroft with its own distinctive design style leads the world of art pottery. Its sales today are even higher than they were at the height of their success in the mid-1920’s.
