A beautiful large centre piece standing 14” (34 cms.) high signed by Sandro Maggioni with unbelievable and complicated detailing. It is marked with the Capodimonte blue N and Crown. It is called “La Sorpresa” [The Surprise]. Included is a certificate of authenticity [in pristine condition in the original envelope] showing the cost of £298 in1979.
The detail is outstanding showing a hunter among flowers, mushrooms, toadstools and a jungle of grasses, carrying his rifle with his cartridge belt alongside him on a tree trunk. A rabbit has appeared so his faithful dog is looking to him for instructions. The hunter is pointing for the dog to follow.
The condition is excellent and we have not been able to find any nibbles so, if there are any there, they must be minute and invisible to the naked eye.
